Basketball class by Olympian Takako Nakahara
[Basketball class by Olympian Takako Nakahara]

This year, as a special project, a basketball class was held on December 3 by Takako Nakahara (nee Kato), who participated in the Atlanta Olympics (1996), as a representative of Japan. Mr. Nakahara was the first high school student in history and was selected as a Japanese national team player while attending prefectural Tomioka High School. After graduation, he has been active as a player at Chanson Cosmetics and has participated in many international competitions such as the Atlanta Olympics. After that, he was transferred to Prioro of Italian Serie A, the first Japanese to play.
The children glowed their eyes and were instructed by former Olympic athletes. I think it was a great opportunity for children who seriously engage in basketball to have dreams, telling them about their experiences of growing as a player because they felt disappointing to lose.
The serious expression and match attitude of the boys and girls who participated were truly refreshed. I think there is a lot to gain, such as learning about building a healthy body and teamwork through basketball.
The leaders and parents of each team will work hard to foster healthy boys and girls, such as fostering a sense of solidarity and coordination among children through basketball, and express their deep respect for their enthusiasm. .
I would like to thank the Sports Promotion Committee members for providing such valuable opportunities.
