With salary table of general staff being revised in December, 2018, this council, from the mayor, based on the provisions of the Council Ordinance, Article 2-2 of the Yokohama City Special Staff Member Remuneration, Opinion was asked about the amount of member of the Diet remuneration of member of the Diet and the amount of salary of the mayor and deputy mayor (hereinafter referred to as "the amount of member of the Diet remuneration").
In response to this, the Council exchanged various opinions on the level of parliamentary remuneration.
Based on the fact that the cumulative salary revision rate for general employees since FY2011 (hereinafter referred to as the “cumulative revision rate”) was minus 0.04%, etc., discussions were held. The following opinions were given.
・Because the cumulative revision amount multiplied by the monthly salary of the mayor by the cumulative revision rate is a small amount of minus 700 yen, we think that it should be left.
・Considering that the cumulative revision amount was revised in the past council when the cumulative revision amount was in units of 10,000 yen, we believe that the same approach should be considered this time as well.
・Considering the revision status of other ordinance-designated cities, we do not consider it to be revised frequently.
・Considering the size of the city and the responsibilities of special positions, the amount of the current member of the Diet remuneration is considered to be a reasonable level.
The Council, taking into account these opinions comprehensively, and concluded that the amount of remuneration for members of the Diet should be "leave unchanged".
