With salary table of general staff being revised in December, 2011, this council, from the mayor, based on the provisions of the Council Ordinance, Article 2-2 of the Yokohama City Special Staff Member Remuneration, Opinion was asked about the amount of member of the Diet remuneration of member of the Diet and the amount of salary of the mayor and deputy mayor (hereinafter referred to as "the amount of member of the Diet remuneration").
In response to this, the Council decided to set the level of remuneration for members of the Diet from April 2011 based on the cumulative minus 1.67% of the salary revision rate for general employees since 1995, based on the fact that the revision was made in the form of liquidation, and the fact that the revision rate for general employees in FY2011 was minus 0.76%. Opinions were given.

○ The chiefs and members of the Diet are responsible for deciding policies by receiving the referral from the residents, and are different in character from general occupations. Remuneration for special jobs does not need to be the same standard as for general employees.
○ Unlike companies, it is not an activity that generates profits, but it is necessary to evaluate as a city leader. Last year, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the responsibilities for the next few years will be heavy. Considering the job of such special jobs, it should be left unchanged.
○ It has not been revised frequently at the time of raising in the past, and should be the same when it is reduced. The amount should not be moved at around 10,000 yen.
○ As a citizen's sense, the private sector is also in a difficult situation, and general staff is also reducing it, and it should be reduced.

The Council, taking into account these opinions comprehensively, and concluded that the amount of remuneration for members of the Diet should be "leave unchanged".
