Yokohama City is strengthening measures against global warming and energy measures to realize a decarbonized "Zero Carbon Yokohama" by 2050, and is promoting initiatives to realize a sustainable urban model.
To date, we have concluded a partnership agreement on renewable energy with 15 municipalities that have abundant renewable energy resources. In order to strengthen our efforts, we have concluded a cooperation agreement with Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture on regional revitalization utilizing renewable energy.
Through this agreement, we will promote cooperation on renewable energy and work toward the realization of a decarbonized society based on the philosophy of the "Regional Recycling Symbiosis Area (*)" that maximizes the vitality of the region.
※ Regional Circulation Symbiosis Area: The concept of revitalizing the region by complementing and supporting neighboring areas and local resources while each region makes use of local resources according to their characteristics and forming an independent and decentralized society. Advocated in the Fifth Basic Environmental Plan (decided by the Cabinet in April 2018)
