Greenhouse gas emissions (preliminary figures) from Yokohama city area in fiscal 2020 decreased by 7.4% from the previous year to 16.48 million tons-CO2, peaking in fiscal 2013, and decreased for the seventh consecutive year. Factors for the decrease from the previous fiscal year include a decrease in energy consumption through energy-saving efforts and an improvement in the power emission factor. In addition, it decreased by 24% compared to FY2013, which is the base year of the greenhouse gas emission reduction target, and achieved the 2020 reduction target set forth in the “Yokohama City Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan (revised in October 2018)” (down 22% from FY2013).
In order to realize Zero Carbon Yokohama, it is necessary to promote energy conservation and expand the introduction of renewable energy, and we will continue to work with citizens and businesses to reduce greenhouse gases.
