Greenhouse gas emissions (preliminary figures) from the Yokohama city area in fiscal 2020 decreased by 7.4% year-on-year to 16.48 million tons-CO2, a decrease of 7.4% year-on-year, peaking in FY2013. Factors for the decrease from the previous fiscal year include a decrease in energy consumption due to energy conservation efforts and an improvement in the emission factor of electricity. In addition, it decreased by 24% compared to FY2013, which is the base year of the greenhouse gas emission reduction target, and the fiscal 2020 reduction targets set forth in the “Yokohama City Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan (revised in October 2018)” (22% decrease compared to FY2013).
In order to realize Zero Carbon Yokohama, it is necessary to promote energy conservation and expand the introduction of renewable energy, and we will continue to work with citizens and businesses to reduce greenhouse gases.
