In order to realize the Zero Carbon Yokohama decarbonization by 2050, Yokohama City is strengthening its global warming countermeasures and energy measures, and is promoting initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable metropolis model.
To date, we have concluded cooperation agreements on renewable energy with 14 local governments that have abundant renewable energy resources. We have newly concluded a partnership agreement with Ogata Village, Akita Prefecture, which has been selected as a "decarbonization precedence area (Note 1)" as well as Yokohama City. This is the first collaboration between decarbonization leading regions in Japan (Note 2).
Through this cooperation agreement, based on the philosophy of the “Regional Recycling Symbiosis Sphere (Note 3)”, which maximizes the vitality of the region, along with the cooperation of renewable energy. In addition, we will work on initiatives in decarbonization ahead of decarbonization.

(Note 1)
In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) based on the "Regional Decarbonization Roadmap" to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This is an area that realizes requirements such as "substantial zero CO2 emissions from power consumption in the consumer sector (household and business and other sectors) according to regional characteristics. In the first round of selection (April 2022), 26 regions were selected.

(Note 2)
Excludes joint proposals by multiple local governments.

(Note 3)
The idea of revitalizing the region by making use of local resources according to its characteristics, forming an independent and decentralized society, and complementing and supporting neighboring areas and local resources. It was proposed in the Fifth Environmental Basic Plan (Cabinet decision in April 2018).
