March issue Workshop experience report useful in the event of a disaster

At Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center, you can learn about disaster prevention and reduce disaster damage through a variety of hands-on programs. This time, I have experienced a "workshop useful in the event of a disaster."

Last Updated March 1, 2022

At the "Workshop useful in the event of a disaster", you can learn how to make useful goods at evacuation centers using nearby newspapers, flyers, garbage bags, etc. This time, I was taught how to make "rain-gappa made with garbage bags".

First of all, I need to prepare.

・Garbage bag
・Magic
・Scissors

It's three points.
The standard size of the garbage bag is 45L for children and 70L or more for adults.
※This time, I will make it using a 45L one.

First, draw a line that serves as a marker at the point where you cut with scissors.

① A line that connects the mouth to the bottom side along the edge of the bag (only on one side)
② ①The line of 20cm to 30cm from the other side of the line.
③ ②A 20cm line is moved to a position 5cm further from the line.
④ ①A line of 20cm to a position 5cm moving from the line
⑤ ③The line that connects the tip of the line drawn in 4
⑥ ①Lines connecting the tips of 4, 2, and 3

Next, cut the line along the drawn line.
In particular, don't forget to cut the part 6.

When all lines are cut, it will be like this.

In fact, this is the perfect!
It's very easy.

Then, I'll try wearing it.
First of all, there is a hood that becomes a hood shape when opened, so wear it from the head.
Then, tie the string hanging on the neck and chest in front of the body.
Finally, wrap up the area around the eyes of the hood to ensure visibility.

How about it? By the way, if you make it with 70L, you can cover your wrist or waist position.

In addition to surpass the rain, it can also be used as simple winter clothes.

In addition, you can learn how to make disaster prevention slippers made of newspaper and tableware made with flyers at the "Workshop useful in the event of a disaster".

It is desirable to prepare necessary items such as winter clothes in advance in case of emergency, but it is safe to remember how to make it in case of emergency.
