Barrier-free assistance in common areas of condominiums

For condominiums where buildings are aging and residents are aging, we will partially support construction costs such as eliminating steps in common areas such as corridors and stairs or installation of handrails in common areas such as corridors and stairs or installation of handrails.

1 Please check first.

This subsidy project covers common areas of condominiums.
This subsidy project cannot be used for exclusive use of apartment buildings.
※Persons requiring support and care recipients in The Long-term Care Insurance may be able to use the following assistance projects for the renovation of dedicated parts of the apartment.

2 Subsidized construction

2-1 Barrier-free maintenance of common areas or their premises

Those that fall under all of the following are eligible for assistance.

  • Barrier-free maintenance of facilities related to facilitation routes, etc., in common areas of condominiums or their premises
  • Yokohama City Welfare Town Development Ordinance Those that conform to facility maintenance standards in the facility maintenance manual

2-3 Examples of construction

  • Installation of handrails in apartment buildings
  • Installation of handrails for stairs and slopes at entrance
  • Construction work to lower the height of one step of the stairs
  • Construction work to change the sidewalk from the road to the entrance from block to asphalt pavement

2-4 Confirmation method of maintenance standards

  Please refer to the facility maintenance manual (other than apartment houses) for the figure.

3 Auxiliary requirements

In order to support as many condominiums as possible within a limited budget, we provide assistance only once per Residential Association.
Even if the amount of the first subsidy has not reached the maximum subsidy, the second subsidy application cannot be made regardless of the application year.

4 Subsidy amount

4-1 One-third of the cost required for construction such as barrier-free facilities (up to 300,000 yen)

One-third of the cost required for construction work such as barrier-free construction (rounded down to the nearest thousand yen) excluding consumption tax equivalent
※1 Subsidy is limited to 300,000 yen per Residential Association.
※2 In the case of construction work related to the installation, the lower amount of 300,000 yen per Residential Association or 8,000 yen per dwelling unit.

4-2 Example of subsidy amount

Example 1 In the case of a slope installation with a construction cost of 600,000 yen
   600,000 yen x 1/3 = 200,000 yen will be subsidized
Example 2 In the case of stairs handrail installation with a construction cost of 300,000 yen and the number of dwelling units of 20 units
   300,000 yen x 1/3 = 100,000 yen
   20 units x 8,000 yen = 160,000 yen
   100,000 yen is the subsidy amount because it is 100,000 <160,000.

5 Procedure Flow

Prior to construction contract

  1. Prior consultation

  3. Submission of business plan
  4. (If the number of applications is large) Lottery
  5. Grant of business plan approval letter of advice from city

Construction contract~Start to Completion

After construction is completed

  1. Submission of construction completion report and subsidy grant application
  2. Grant of subsidy grant decision letter of advice from city
  3. Submission of a subsidy grant bill
  4. Grant of subsidies from the city

7-1 Until when are you accepting applications?

Reception for 2024 is from Monday, May 20 to Friday, July 19.

7-2 I have been excluded in the past. Can I apply again this year?
A

Application is possible.

7-3 Do I have to submit the application documents directly to the city hall?
A

In principle, please submit it in the Yokohama City Electronic Application System. If it is difficult, please consult with the Housing Revitalization Division.

7-4 Can I get assistance if construction has been completed or projects under construction?
A

If construction is completed or construction is completed, it will not be eligible for assistance. It is necessary to apply before signing a construction contract with the construction company.

7-5 I want to make the room of the apartment barrier-free. Can I get assistance for the condominium / barrier-free support project?
A

The target of the condominium / barrier-free support project is the construction of common areas of condominiums. Barrier-free construction in dwelling units is not covered by this system.

7-6 Is it also eligible for assistance when handrail work is performed as part of long-term repair work?
A

It may be eligible for assistance. Subsidies can be received by making a contract for long-term repair work after approval. If the construction period is not delayed, you can receive a subsidy by separating the contract only for handrail work.

7-7 We are considering installing handrails on the stairs in the common area of the condominium. Can I get assistance on one side alone?
A

If it is provided on both sides, it will be eligible for assistance, but if it is provided only on one side, it will not be eligible for assistance. For more information, please refer to the following link.
