Information on the 2024 Training 

We will follow the concept of "bring up a forest that connects to the next generation with citizens" advocated in the Yokohama Green Up Plan. In addition, we will provide practical and useful training for forest creation using the "Yokohama City Forest Creation Guidelines".

Yokohama City conducts various trainings in order to have knowledge and safety activities related to forests, and we will implement them in accordance with the training theme. A pin badge will be presented to those who have taken all items for each training theme. Please acquire knowledge and skills related to forests and use them for further forest creation activities.


Since fiscal 2020, we have been conducting training in accordance with the above themes. Please see below for details of each training course.

The following is an overview of each training course.

【1】 "World Forest Creation Volunteer Experience Meeting, Yokohama Forest Helpers"

Please refer to "Forest Creation Volunteer Human Resource Development Project for Fostering Forests" for information on forest creation experience sessions and the Yokohama Forest Helper.

【2】 “Training on how to use tools” ≪Basic training for forest creation work≫ 

Through practical training, you will learn about how to use and care correctly, and the basic posture for safe forest creation activities.

Target: Those who are registered as members of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers

A Schedule: 9:30-12:00 on Saturday, July 6, 2024
B Schedule: 13: 30-16: 00 on Saturday, July 6, 2024

Venue: Environmental Activity Support Center

Contents: You will learn about basic forest creation work, such as how to use tools such as pruning scissors and saws, processing generated materials, and care for tools.

【3】 Safety management training e-learning 

We provided a wide range of basic safety management for forest creation activities, and provided training for many people to learn.
If you have an Internet environment, you can receive training from your computer or smartphone at any time during the period.

Target: Those who are registered as members of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers
   You will need to register your e-mail address to apply.

Course period: Scheduled for summer 2024

Contents: You can learn the basics of "equipment", "dangerous creatures / danger prediction" and "tools" related to forest creation.
   After watching the training video, we will review it according to the confirmation question.

【4】 “Safety Management Training” ≪Required Training for Forest Creation Activities Group≫ 

This is a course for "forest creation activity groups" to learn the safety management necessary to work as a forest creation volunteer.
Forest creation activity groups are required to obtain "Approval of Forest Creation Activity Approval". Please be sure to take the course.

Target: Those who belong to a forest-building activity organization

Contents: We will hold courses on the theme of creating safety management manuals.

【5】 "Nature Observation Seminar"

We are planning to provide training on how to identify trees. (Contents are subject to change.)
Those who are thinking of joining a forest-building activity group in the future
This is an introductory level training for those who have already belonged to an organization and want to use the knowledge they have gained through the training for future forest creation.

Target: Those who are registered as members of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers

【6】 "Introduction to Forest Creation Volunteer Course"

For those who are interested in "forest creation," we will convey the appeal of forest creation.
Students learn about the environment in Yokohama, conservation measures, and conservation management practices that foster diversity of living creatures.
This is a series of courses for beginners.

Target: Those who are 18 years old or older who are interested in creating forests in Yokohama.
   Being able to participate in all schedules (2 days).

Date and time: Scheduled for fall 2024

Venue: Niiharu Satoyama Exchange Center and Shinji Shimin-no-Mori (17-minute walk from Tokaichiba Station South Exit of JR Yokohama Line)

Contents: Students will learn about the creation of forests in Yokohama City while classroom lectures and actually walking in the forest. In addition, you will also experience forest creation work experience.

【7】 "Yokohama City Forest Creation School!" (For university students)

For university students interested in forest creation, we will communicate the appeal of forest creation to university students interested in forest creation.
Students learn about the environment in Yokohama, conservation measures, and conservation management practices that foster diversity of living creatures.
This is a series of courses for beginners.

Target: University students (including junior college students, graduate students, and vocational school students) and over 18 years old.
   Be able to participate in all courses (pre-on-line training + group training 2 days).
   Interesting in creating forests in Yokohama City.

Date and time: : Scheduled for fall 2024

Venue: Niiharu Satoyama Exchange Center and Shinji Shimin-no-Mori (17-minute walk from Tokaichiba Station South Exit of JR Yokohama Line)

Contents: Students will learn about the creation of forests in Yokohama City while classroom lectures and actually walking in the forest. In addition, you will also experience forest creation work experience.

【8】 “Work training”

Students will learn how to prepare before work, consider safety, and how to use tools correctly and safely and how to work through practical training.

Target: A member of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, or contact forest protection society

Date and time: Scheduled for December 2024

Venue: Undecided

Contents: We plan to conduct training (including practical skills) from cutting bamboo to processing and processing generated materials.

【9】 Training for thinned wood management

Learn how to use thinned wood generated in forest creation activities.
This training is for those who already belong to an organization and want to use the knowledge gained through the training in future forest creation.

Target: A member of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, or contact forest protection society

Date and time: Scheduled for January through March 2007

Venue: Undecided

Contents: We are planning to make a craft using bamboo produced material.

【10】 "AED Training"

This is a course to learn how to use AED and cardiopulmonary resuscitation by classroom lectures and practical training.
If you wish to continue lending AEDs or if you are a new organization that wants to borrow, please take the course.

Target: A member of the forest creation activity group, Shimin-no-Mori Protection Association, or contact forest protection society

Date and time: Scheduled for spring 2025

Venue: Undecided

Contents: This is a course to learn how to use AED and cardiac and lung resuscitation by classroom lectures and practical skills.
