Information on Training for FY2024 

We will follow the concept of "fostering a forest that will connect to the next generation with citizens" as stated in the Yokohama Green Up Plan. In addition, we will also provide practical and useful training for forest creation using the "Yokohama City Forest Creation Guidelines".

In Yokohama City, we conduct a variety of trainings in order to have knowledge about forests and conduct activities safely, and we will implement them according to the training theme. If you have taken all the items for each training theme, you will receive a pin badge. Please acquire knowledge and skills related to forests and use them for further forest creation activities.


Since fiscal 2020, we have been conducting training in line with the above themes. Please refer to the following for details of each training course.

The following is an overview of each training course.

※What are "forest creation volunteers" and "forest creation activity groups"? → Please refer to "Support System and Procedures".

【1】 "Morizukuri Volunteer Experience Meeting, Yokohama Forest Help Tars"

Please refer to the "Forest Creation Volunteer Development Project for Human Resources to Foster Forests" for the Forest Creation Experience Meeting and the Yokohama Forest Help Tars.

【2】 "Training on how to use tools" ≪Basic training for forest creation work≫ [finished]

Through practical training, you will learn how to use the correct tools and how to care for them, and the basic attitude to safely carry out forest creation activities.

Target: One of the members of the Forest Creation Activity Group, Citizens' Forest Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers

Date and time
A Schedule: From 9:30 to 12:00 on Saturday, July 6, 2024
Schedule B: Saturday, July 6, 2024 13: 30-16: 00

Venue: Environmental Activity Support Center

Contents: You will learn about basic forest creation work, such as how to use tools such as pruning scissors and saws, processing generated materials, and care for tools.

【3】 “Safety Management Training e-Learning” 

We provided training that allows many people to learn a wide range of the basics of safety management in forest creation activities.
If you have an Internet environment, you can receive training from a PC or smartphone at any time during the period.

Target: One of the members of the Forest Creation Activity Group, Citizens' Forest Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers
   You need to register your e-mail address when applying or taking the course.

Course period: From Wednesday, July 18, Reiwa 6 to Thursday, October 25, Reiwa 6

Contents: You can learn the basics of "equipment", "dangerous creatures / danger prediction" and "tools" related to forest creation.
   After watching the training video, review will be conducted on confirmation issues.

【4】 “Safety Management Training” {Required Training for Forest Creation Activities Groups} [finished]

This is a course for "forest creation activity groups" to learn the safety management necessary to work as a forest creation volunteer.
Forest creation activity groups are necessary to obtain "forest creation activity approval". Be sure to take the course.

Target: Those who belong to a forest-building activity group

A Schedule: Wednesday, August 21, 2024 9:30 to 12:00 Southern Parks and Greenery Project Coordination Office (3-minute walk from JR Konandai Station)
Schedule B: 9:30-12:00 on Saturday, August 31, 2024 Northern Parks and Greenery Project Coordination Office (a 20-minute walk from Futamatagawa Station on the Sotetsu Line)
C Schedule: Sunday, September 15, 2024 9:30 to 12:00 Environmental Activity Support Center

Contents: We will conduct courses on the theme of creating safety management manuals.

【5】 Nature observation class "30 species of trees to be distinguished by leaves" [finished]

By observing and sketching the leaves of trees that you need to remember when conducting forest-building activities.
This is a training course to learn how to identify tree species.
Those who are thinking of joining a forest-building activity group in the future, or those who are planning to join a forest-building activity group.
This is an introductory level training for those who have already belonged to an organization and want to use the knowledge gained in the training in future forest creation.

Target: One of the members of the Forest Creation Activity Group, Citizens' Forest Protection Association, Fureai Forest Protection Association, and those who are registered as forest creation volunteers

   A Schedule: Thursday, September 26, 2024 10: 00-15: 00
   Schedule B: Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00 

Venue: Environmental Activity Support Center

Contents: Through lectures, sketches, and observation sessions, you will learn how to distinguish trees by leaves.
   (Outdoor observation sessions may be canceled depending on temperature and weather.)

【6】 "Introductory course for volunteering to make forests" [finished]

For those who are interested in "forest creation," we will convey the appeal of forest creation.
Learn about the environment of the forest in Yokohama, the conservation policy, and the manners of conservation management that fosters diversity of living things.
This is a series of courses for beginners.

Target: Those who are 18 years old or older who are interested in creating forests in Yokohama City.
   Being able to participate in all schedules (2 days).

Date and time: Day 1: Saturday, October 19, 2024 9: 30~15:30
   Day 2: Sunday, October 27, 2024 9: 30~15:30 

Venue: Niiharu Satoyama Exchange Center and Shinji Citizen's Forest (17-minute walk from the south exit of Tokaichiba Station on the JR Yokohama Line)

Contents: You will learn about the creation of forests in Yokohama City while classroom lectures and actually walking in the forest. In addition, we will also experience forest creation work.

【7】 "Yokohama City Forest Creation School!" (For university students)

We will convey the appeal of forest creation to university students interested in "forest creation" and convey the appeal of forest creation.
Learn about the environment of the forest in Yokohama, the conservation policy, and the manners of conservation management that fosters diversity of living things.
This is a series of courses for beginners.

Target: University students (including junior college students, graduate students, vocational school students) and over 18 years old.
   Being able to participate in all courses (advance online training + group training 2 days).
   Being interested in creating a forest in Yokohama city.
   Being able to participate in all schedules (2 days).

Date and time: Day 1: Saturday, November 16, 2024 9: 30~15:30
   Day 2: Saturday, November 23, 2024 9: 30~15:30

Contents: You will learn about the creation of forests in Yokohama City while classroom lectures and actually walking in the forest. In addition, we will also experience forest creation work.

【8】 "Work training"

Through practical training, students will learn safe work methods in forest creation activities, such as preparation before work, consideration for safety, and proper use of tools.

Date and time: Saturday, December 14, 2024 10:00~15:00

Venue: Environmental Activity Support Center

Contents: After sharing information and exchanging opinions with participants on safe work methods for cutting bamboo, we will continue to share information and exchange opinions with participants.
   We will learn by actually cutting down.

【9】 “Thinning wood management training”

Learn how to use thinned wood generated in forest creation activities.
This training is for those who have already belong to an organization and want to use the knowledge gained in the training in future forest creation.

Target: One of the members of the Forest Creation Activity Group, Citizens' Forest Protection Association, or Fureai Forest Protection Association

Date and time: Scheduled for January to March 2015

Venue: Undecided

Contents: We are planning to craft using bamboo-generated materials.

【10】 "AED Training"

This is a course to learn how to use AED and cardiopulmonary resuscitation through classroom lectures and practical training.
If you wish to continue lending AEDs or if you are a new organization, please take the course.

Target: One of the members of the Forest Creation Activity Group, Citizens' Forest Protection Association, or Fureai Forest Protection Association

Date and time: Scheduled for spring 2025

Venue: Undecided

Contents: This is a course to learn how to use AED and how to regenerate the heart and lungs through classroom lectures and practical skills.
