[Effective April 2012] Information accompanying the revision of the Act on Promotion of Specified Non-Profit Activities

In June 2011, with the aim of further supporting the activities of non-profit corporations (NPOs) and strengthening the financial base, the Act on Promotion of Specified Non-Profit Activities (NPOs) and strengthening the establishment of a financial base. Law) has been revised and will take effect on April 1, 2012.
Please refer to the following documents for the contents of the NPO law revision and the accompanying certification system and office work based on the certification system.

Main contents of law revisions, such as changes in competent authority, addition of activities, submission of business reports, etc., and notification of changes in articles of incorporation and officers

Provides an overview of the certification system, such as the transfer of accreditation work and the introduction of a temporary certification system.
(Note) Certified non-profit corporations that have been certified by the Commissioner of the National Tax Agency prior to March 31, 2012 are eligible.

In June 2011, a part of the Act on Promotion of Specified Nonprofit Activities was amended, and the authority to certify NPOs with offices in Yokohama (from the governor of Kanagawa Prefecture to The Mayor of Yokohama) and the authority to certify NPOs that can receive tax incentives (from the Commissioner of the National Tax Agency to The Mayor of Yokohama).
In order to start new office work, Yokohama City has enacted the Act on Promotion of Specified Non-Profit Activities. (Effected on April 1, 2012)
