The deep Earth Exploration Vessel Chikyu, built in 2005, is a ship that digs the bottom of the sea to explore various mysteries of the earth. To date, a total of 45 km of holes have been dug into the seafloor at 117 locations. He talked about the scientific drilling conducted by Chikyu, including the fault located under the Sea of Japan Trench at a depth of 7,000 meters, microorganisms living below the seafloor, minerals erupting into the seafloor, minerals erupting into the seabed with hydrothermal water, and the investigation of earthquake zones deep in the Nankai Trough.
