Registration (issuance of library card)
Those who can register
- Those who live in Yokohama, commute, or go to school
- Those who live in Kamakura, Kawasaki, Zushi, Fujisawa, Yamato, Yokosuka, and Machida
- If you live in Kamakura City, Kawasaki City, Zushi City, Fujisawa City, Yamato City, Yokosuka City, or Machida City, please refer to the following.About use of neighboring city library (wide area use) "Please take a look.
Registration method
- Please fill in the application form for a library card and send it to the registration counter along with the original copy of your identity and current address (confirmation documents). A library card will be issued on the spot.
- You can also apply for registration online or apply for registration details (temporary registration) before visiting.

Those who live in Yokohama and have the same Address listed in resident certificate and currently live in Address.
Lending
- Registration and rental are free of charge.
- You can borrow anywhere in City Library and return it anywhere.
- Library cards are common to all Yokohama City Library. (Issued one sheet per person)
- You can borrow 10 books for 2 weeks (14 opening days) with one card.

Attention
- The library card cannot be used by anyone other than the person.
- Library card number, date of birth, and Phone number are required to register your password. Please be careful when handling it.
- The expiration date of the library card is 5 years. At the time of registration renewal, we will check the registration details.

Please bring a document (original) that can confirm the applicant's name and address.
Example of confirmation documents
- Driver's license
- Health insurance card
- Certificates issued by local governments and government agencies. Copy of resident certificate, certificate of family register (certificate of all matters in family register), My Number Card, Handbook for Persons with DisabilitiesReceipt of Partnership OathEtc. (However, copies of resident certificate, certificate of family register (certificate of all matters of family register) must be issued within three months of issuance.)
- Receipt of utility bill (within three months of issuance, with Address, name and ward name, address, room number, etc.)
- Student ID card, student handbook
- Mail sent to the applicant whose postmark is within 3 months. (If you would like to confirm by mail, please present a cash card or other items that can be used to identify yourself. However, members cards that have not passed the identity of the issuer are excluded. )
Attention
- If the expiration date is stated, it must be within the expiration date.
- In the case of a receipt, etc., please present one within 3 months from the date of issue.
- If you live outside of Yokohama City and commute to Yokohama City, please also present documents (employee ID, student ID card, student handbook, etc.) that allows you to confirm your place of work and school.
If you do not have a document that can identify your employer in the city, please present certificate of employment. If there is no style specified at your place of work, please use this form.

- In principle, procedures must be taken by the applicant. If it is not convenient, a family member of living together can perform the procedure. If your family is responsible for the procedure, please bring the applicant's identification documents.
- If a person other than living together family member performs the procedure on behalf of the applicant, please bring the following two items in addition to the applicant's identification documents.
- The delegated person (applicant) signed by the person (applicant)Power of Attorney (PDF: 99KB)
- A document confirming the name and address of proxy/agent (Address) or a document confirming the name and address of proxy/agent
When elementary school student and infants under elementary school age perform registration procedures alone
- You can check your name and address by mail sent to the applicant. (It is not necessary to present other identification documents together.) In addition, for elementary school students and younger, New Year's cards without postmarks are also valid as confirmation documents.
- If a parent or guardian visits together and registers, please bring confirmation documents such as the applicant's health insurance card.
