About Seal Registration

The private seal, which is used by individuals to perform various procedures and legal acts required in social life, is registered in advance at government offices with resident registration.

The following private seal cannot be registered in Yokohama.

  • Names, name, old Mr. or name recorded in the Basic Resident Register recorded in the Basic Resident Register, or a combination of a part of the old Mr.
  • Rubber stamps and other private seal that are easily deformed
  • Occupation, qualifications and other matters other than name, old Mr. or common name (In addition to the name, nickname, title, pattern, symbols, patterns, symbols, designs, etc. are included in addition to the name, etc.)
  • The size of the seal impression fits in a square with a side length of 8 mm or a square with a side length of 25 mm
  • seal impression is unclear, unrelated (such as engraved carvings) or difficult to read characters
  • seal impression is significantly similar to private seal that has already been registered by another person or private seal that another person has already registered.
  • His kanji has been changed to "Hiragana", "Katakana", or "Understanding Kana" or "Katakana" with the name "Hiragana", "Katakana" and "Valid Kana" changed to kanji

Precautions (foreign residents)

  • resident certificate must include the kanji name and common name inprivate seal.
  • If you are a non-Kanji-speaking foreign residents and registering with katakana private seal, you must record katakana, which is the way you read the name in the remarks column of resident certificate.

Registration method

Seal Registration is an important system that protects our property and rights. To prevent accidents, please bring your own private seal registered and apply at the ward office of your ward. After confirming your identity in one of the following ways, register. For more information, please contact the ward office Family Registry Division Registration Section.

License method (same day registration)

  1. Download the Seal Registration application form from the Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification Service page (outside site) and print it out, or obtain it at the ward office window.
  2. Please bring your own private seal and application form, and come to your ward office.
  3. Please show a photo certificate (within the expiration date) issued by the public office
  4. If you can verify your identity, you can register on the spot.

Precautions

Please present the certificate of 3 that has been stamped on the face of the face with a press, work seal, or punch, etc., or that has been tampered with tampering prevention measures such as laminating the certificate etc.

Guarantor method (same day registration)

  1. Download the Seal Registration application form from the Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification Service page (outside site) and print it out, or obtain it at the ward office window.
  2. In the guarantor section of the application form, please press the private seal that has already signed and registered with Seal Registration.
  3. Please come to your ward office with your private seal and application form.
  4. Please present your applicant identification documents.
  5. If you can verify your identity, you can register on the spot.

Precautions

  • Those who do Seal Registration outside the city can also be guarantors, but in addition to the above, a private seal certificate must be issued within three months after issuance.
  • Applications can be made by proxy/agent, but in addition to the application form and private seal registered, the following items are required separately.
    • Power of Attorney handwrittenSample of Power of Attorney (PDF: 116KB)Created within two weeks, referring to the following:
    • proxy/agent's identity verification documents (My Number Card, driver's license, health insurance card, etc.)
  • In the "guarantor" method, proxy/agent cannot serve as guarantors.

Document inquiry method (registered at a later date)

  1. Please print out the Seal Registration application form or obtain it at the ward office.
  2. Please come to the ward office with your private seal and application form.
  3. Please present your applicant identification documents.
  4. After submitting the application form, we will send you an inquiry to you.
  5. When the inquiry has arrived, please bring the following to the ward office.
  • Pressed private seal, the answer sheet enclosed with the inquiry form
  • A health insurance card, etc. that can identify the person
  • Registered private seal

Precautions

You can apply by proxy/agent, but in addition to the application form and the private seal registered, the following items are required separately.

Precautions

  • In the case of the "document inquiry method", registration may take a few days (about one week) depending on the postal circumstances. Please complete the procedure with plenty of time.

  • If you have lost your private seal registration card and wish to return to Seal Registration again, be sure to submit a request.private seal Notification of Lost CertificatePlease refer to the following URL.
