About Seal Registration

private seal, which is used by individuals to carry out various procedures and legal activities necessary for social life, is registered in advance at government offices with resident registrations.

Person who reports and can do

※However, those who do not have the ability to will not be able to Seal Registration.

Not registered private seal

The following private seal cannot be registered in Yokohama.

  • Names that are not represented by names, names, names, old names or names recorded in the Basic Resident Register, or combinations of some of the old names
  • Rubber stamps or other private seal that are easily deformed
  • Occupation, qualifications, and other matters other than the old name or common name (including nicknames, nicknames, titles, patterns, symbols, designs, etc. in addition to the name, animal silhouettes, designs, etc. Processed to name)
  • seal impression size that fits in a square with a side length of 8 millimeters or does not fit in a square with a side length of 25 millimeters.
  • Those whose seal impression is unclear, those that have no edge (such as incarnations) or those that are difficult to read characters
  • seal impression is significantly similar to private seal, which is already registered by another person or private seal already registered by another person.
  • Those whose kanji has been changed to "Hiragana", "Katakana", "Variation Kana", or whose names "Hiragana", "Katakana", and "Variation Kana" have been replaced with kanji.

Notes (Foreign Residents)

  • If you are a foreign resident and wish to register with the kanji name or common name private seal, you must have the kanji name and common name written in resident certificate.
  • If you are a non-Kanji-speaking foreign resident and register in private seal, you must record the katakana reading in the remarks column of resident certificate.

Registration method

Seal Registration is an important system to protect our property and rights. In order to prevent accidents, please carry out procedures at your ward office with your registered private seal. After confirming your identity in one of the following ways, register. For more information, please contact Family Registry Division Registration Section.

License method (same day registration)

  1. Download the Seal Registration application form from the Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification Service page (outside site), print it out, or obtain it at the ward office window.
  2. Please bring your own private seal and the application form and come to your ward office.
  3. Please show a photo certificate issued by the public office (within the expiration date)
  4. If you can verify your identity, you can register on the spot.

Notes

Please show the certificate in 3 that is marked on the face photo with a stamp, work seal, or a hole, or that has been tamper-proof measures such as laminating the certificate etc. .

My number card (personal number card), driver's license, Japanese passport, residence card, special permanent resident certificate, etc.

Guarantor method (same day registration)

  1. Download the Seal Registration application form from the Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification Service page (outside site), print it out, or obtain it at the ward office window.
  2. Please press the registered private seal in the guarantor section of the application form with a guarantor already signed bySeal Registration.
  3. Please come to your ward office with your registered private seal and application form.
  4. Please show me your applicant identification documents.
  5. If you can verify your identity, you can register on the spot.

Notes

  • Those who do Seal Registration outside the city can also be guarantors, but in addition to the above, you will also need a private seal certificate within three months after issuance.
  • You can apply by proxy/agent, but in addition to the application form and the registered private seal, the following items are required separately.
    • Power of Attorney written by the personSample power of attorney (PDF: 116KB)Created within 2 weeks for reference.)
    • Identification documents for proxy/agent (My Number Card, Driver's License, Health Insurance Card, etc.)
  • Under the guarantor method, proxy/agent cannot serve as guarantors.

Document Inquiry method (registered later)

  1. Please print out the Seal Registration application form or obtain it at the ward office.
  2. Please come to the ward office with your registered private seal and application form.
  3. Please show me your applicant identification documents.
  4. After submitting the application form, you will be mailed an inquiry to you.
  5. When the inquiry arrives, please come to the ward office with the following:
  • The answer sheet enclosed in the inquiry form that pressed the submitted private seal
  • Health insurance card, etc. that can identify the person
  • private seal to register

You can apply by proxy/agent, but in addition to the application form and the registered private seal, the following items are required separately.

Notes

  • In the case of the "document inquiry method", registration may take a few days (about one week) depending on postal circumstances. Please complete the procedure with plenty of time.
  • If an adult ward is Seal Registration, the adult ward must visit the office and accompany the legal representative. In addition, please refer to ward office Family Registry Division of ward where you live for procedure.
  • If you have lost your private seal registration card and wish to go to Seal Registration again, be sure to do so.Notification of Loss of private seal Registration CertificatePlease refer to the following page. If proxy/agent submits a notification of loss of registration certificate for private seal, the registration will be completed at a later date.
