School lunch in Yokohama City

○School lunches are implemented based on the School Lunch Act, and their goals are set as follows. . (Article 2 of the School Lunch Act)
(1)To maintain and improve health by taking appropriate nutrition.
(2)To deepen the correct understanding of meals in daily life, cultivate judgment that can lead a healthy diet, and develop desirable eating habits.
(3)Enriching school life and cultivating a bright sociality and a spirit of cooperation.
(4)To develop a spirit of respect for life and nature and an attitude that contributes to the conservation of the environment.
(5)To deepen the understanding that eating habits are supported by various activities of people involved in eating, and to develop a work-oriented attitude.
(6)To deepen the understanding of the excellent traditional food culture of Japan and each region.
(7)Guide the right understanding of food production, distribution and consumption.
○The burden of expenses related to the operation of school meals is also stipulated by the School Lunch Act. (Article 11 of the School Lunch Act)

○School lunch fees in Yokohama City
School lunch fees paid by parents are used to purchase ingredients used in school lunch every day. The school lunch fee for elementary schools and special needs schools is 50,600 yen per year, and the kindergarten, junior high school, and high school of special needs schools vary from school to school.
Payment will be made monthly payment from May to March every year (payment 11 times).
○Number of school lunch
The standard is implemented 188 times a year according to the annual plan of each school.
However, for 2020, school lunches will be started on July 1, 2020, and will be implemented at elementary schools 145 times a year.
※school lunch will begin on August 24, 2020 after the summer vacation. Please note that some schools may differ, so please contact the school directly.
