Measurement of radioactive materials in school lunch ingredients
Last Updated December 23, 2024
Since June 16, 2011, Yokohama City has been measuring radioactive materials in school lunch ingredients. Since fiscal 2014, we have been focusing on the number of times and intake provided in school lunch.
About 2024, we carry out radiological inspection as follows.
1 Subject of inspection
(1) Milk and staple food that is provided every day and consumes a large amount of milk and staple food
(2) Ingredients whose standard value (100 becquerels / kg) or more than 1/2 of radioactive cesium has been detected in national inspections over the past year.
(3) (2)Processed products made from main raw materials
(4) Other items deemed necessary
※(2)Specific items in the category are set with reference to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's “Inspection of Radioactive Materials for Agricultural, Livestock and Fishery Products” (No. 4 issued by Kensei March 26, 2024).
Items to be inspected in December 2024 other than milk and staple food are as follows.
Inspection date | Inspection items |
---|---|
ー | No target |
※Ingredients delivered to schools on a monthly basis will be inspected collectively before use.
(There are no items subject to batch inspection as of December 2024.)
2 Measurement method
For one school every day, a specialized inspection organization conducts radiation nuclides analysis using a germanium semiconductor detector for the ingredients used the next day.
3 Measurement location
Measure at the following laboratory.
・ Food and Environmental Inspection Association
・ Japan Maritime Certification Association
・ Yokohama City Inst. of Health
4 Measurement items
Radioactive cesium (Cesium-134, Cesium-137)
