Seminars are held for sign language volunteers and those who aim to become sign language interpreters.
Sign language service training courses include introductory courses and basic courses.
Sign language interpreter training courses include Interpretation I Course and Interpretation II and III Courses.
Those who have completed the Interpreter II and III courses and have passed the Yokohama City Sign Language Interpreter Registration Examination (Sign Language Interpreter Nationwide Examination) will be involved in interpreting activities as a Yokohama City Registered Sign Language Interpreter.

About recruitment of sign language service training course in 2025

The introductory course is for those who are learning sign language for the first time, and the basic course is for those who have completed the introductory course or have experienced sign language learning for more than one year.
As a general rule, we ask that you take the course from the introductory course at first. Only a few students will be recruited for the basic course.
Yokohama City outsources the implementation to two organizations, the "Yokohama City Sign Language Interpreter Service Corps Tatsunokai" and the "Yokohama City Hearing Impaired Association". Basically, courses are conducted with the same curriculum, but there are differences in the number of courses and tuition fees per year because each group conducts “independent business” as a “voluntary business” with additional courses including review.
