Requests from Port and Harbor Bureau

Last Updated March 5, 2019

Port facilities managed by Yokohama City restrict access to the general public because it is necessary to ensure the safety of international ships and cargo handling operations.

Facilities such as breakwaters and seawalls face the outside of the port and maintain calmness, conservation, a land facility, and those that fall under the water at high tide. It does not have a structure that assumes access, such as the aging facilities at the time of the opening of the port.
Therefore, due to the nature of the facility, there is no evacuation means in the event of high waves due to sudden changes in weather, etc., which may lead to unexpected accidents such as falls, and many accidents have been reported at similar facilities nationwide. It is very dangerous to enter.
In addition, the quay inside the wharf is also the site of cargo handling work, and it is very dangerous for anyone other than those involved.

In Motoichi, we raised caution by raising signboards of off-limits at facilities and wharf entrances, but we decided to let citizens know again this time.

On the other hand, Yokohama Port has three sea fishing facilities (Honmaki (outside site), Oguro (outside site), Isoko (outside site), Isoko (outside site))) where citizens can enjoy fishing safely, so please use it .

We ask for your understanding and cooperation from the viewpoint of ensuring the safety of citizens.
