Status of asbestos measures in public buildings
Last Updated April 10, 2024
For facilities that were identified as "facilities that are enclosed" or "facilities that do not require immediate measures" in the fact-finding survey, appropriate maintenance is performed, such as measuring the suspended amount every year in principle, and facilities are renovated. Measures will be implemented at the same time.
For facilities under the jurisdiction of Port and Harbor Bureau, as shown in the table below, we report the results of measurements of suspended quantities.
Facilities under the jurisdiction of Port and Harbor Bureau
Location: | Name of the facility | Room name | Spraying status |
---|---|---|---|
1-1, Honmokufutou, Naka-ku | Honmoku Futo LFS shed | 1st and 2nd floors | Behind the ceiling |
Daikokufutou, Tsurumi-ku premises | Daikoku Wharf Skywalk | Lounge, entrance | Behind the ceiling |
"Facility in enclosed state" means that the place of use is sealed in the ceiling and the spraying material is relatively harmful (the content is approximately 5% or less, one amosite 2%) It is a facility that performs appropriate maintenance and management, such as measuring the amount of floating every year in principle, and implements measures at the time of facility renovation.
Regarding the Daikoku Wharf Skywalk, the property of the facility is owned by City of Yokohama, Road and Highway Bureau, but since the City of Yokohama, Port and Harbor Bureau manages and operates it as a facility for accepting cruise ships, the results of asbestos surveys are posted on the website of the authorities.

According to a WHO (World Health Organization) insurance report on the amount of asbestos suspended, "The asbestos concentration in the general environment in urban areas around the world is 1 to 10 bottles / liter (1 to 10 fibers per liter of air) About 10 bottles) ", and it is stated that the effect on health cannot be found at this level.
The lower limit of quantification is the numerical value set by the measuring body for measurement, and there are differences for each institution.
