Concluded agreements with JICA, Saitama Prefecture, Saitama City, and Kawasaki City to improve water supply business in Laos-The knowledge and experience of water supply companies in Japan to Laos-

　In Lao PDR, the national goal is to supply safe water 24 hours a day to 90% of the urban population by 2030.
City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau has supported the improvement of the business planning capabilities of the Water Supply Corporation in Lao PDR in the Project to Improve Management and Management Capacity of Water Supply Corporations (commonly known as MaWaSU) (2012-29) and the Project to Improve Water Supply Business Operation Management Capacity (commonly known as MaWaSU2) (2018-2015) conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
　As a third phase, JICA will implement a project to improve water supply business operation and management capacity (commonly known as MaWaSU3) with the aim of further strengthening the water supply sector in Lao PDR.
　Following MaWaSU2, the Saitama Prefectural Enterprise Bureau, Water Works Bureau in Saitama City, Water Works Bureau in Kawasaki City, and City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau and JICA signed an agreement on January 23 with the aim of cooperating to solve problems in Laos by utilizing the knowledge and experience of Japanese water utilities.
　City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau will continue to support the water supply business in Lao PDR by dispatching staff and accepting trainees at MaWaSU3.
