Procedure Guide

  • It is necessary to obtain permission from The Mayor of Yokohama in advance when displaying, installing, or changing outdoor advertising materials.
  • Procedures are also required in the case of removal or change of installer.
  • The procedures for full wrapping buses and trains are different.This pagePlease check it out.
  • Of the documents to be submitted, the power of attorney must be delegated seal. Otherwise, seal is not required unless otherwise specified.
  • Documents can be submitted by mail or at the counter. Reception at the counter is from 8:45 to 17:15 on weekdays.

Landscape plan
  • The Kannai-District, Minato Mirai 21 New Port Area and Yamate-District must comply with their own standards.

※In Yokohama City, the entire city is a landscape planning area, but only the above three districts have established standards for outdoor advertising materials.

Prohibited areas
  • We have established areas where outdoor advertising materials cannot be installed. ※There are exceptions

Installation standards
  • Standards such as the position and size of outdoor advertising materials are established.

※Depending on the installation location, it is necessary to perform notification of city planning based on the Town Planning and Zoning Act or city planning consultation based on the Yokohama City Planning Consultation Guidelines together with outdoor advertising matter setting permission. You can check whether it corresponds to these districts on i-Mappie (outside site). In addition, please refer to department in charge displayed in i-mappie directly for the details of each procedure.

A "installation" permission application

 When we are going to install outdoor advertising matter newly, permission of the mayor is necessary beforehand. The installation permission application must be made at least 30 days before the date of installation.

  • You need materials to show that it is clear that you cannot see from the area. For details, please refer to the following link.

In the case of setting up a view point in Yamate-District as shown in the Yokohama City Landscape Plan
  • The following materials are required to show that the landscape is not obstructed, such as being unable to see from the viewpoint of the view.

(Example 1) A photograph of the direction of the advertising material, etc. from the viewpoint of the view (illustrates the position of the advertising material, etc.)

(Example 2) A photo that captures the direction from the advertising material to the “view viewpoint place” and clearly determines that the outlook is shielded (a photo showing the position of the “view viewpoint place”) 

10Reply envelope
  • Necessary for mailing a permit, etc. (not required if you receive it at the counter).
  • Please prepare one copy for each application.
  • Please specify the destination (the applicant's Address (location) or the recipient's Address (location) stated in the power of attorney).
  • Please attach a stamp to the non-standard-size envelope (square type 2).
[Receiving seal]
  • If you need a copy of the application form (1 copy), you can also submit a copy of the application form and press the reception stamp and return it.

  ※ In the case of submission to the counter, it will be returned on the spot. In the case of submission by mail, it will be returned enclosed with the permit.

B Application for "Continuation" Permit

 If you intend to continue installing the outdoor advertising material after the expiration of the permission period, you will need to apply for a continuation permission application. Application for continuation permission must be made at least 30 days before the expiration date of the permission period.

C Application for "Change" Permit

 If you want to change or remodel licensed advertising materials, you need to obtain permission in advance. The application for change permission must be made at least 30 days before the date of the change.
 However, in the following cases, it will be a minor change or remodeling, so please notify us in advance instead of applying for permission.

<In case of minor changes or modifications>

  • Changes in the display content that does not involve changes other than the design of advertising materials (refers to changes in “design only”)
  • Repairs and painting of advertising materials, etc. that do not involve changes in the shape of advertising materials, etc.

 If there is a change in the applicant or manager's Address, name, name, etc. after obtaining permission for outdoor advertising materials, a notification must be made within 7 days from the date of the change.

Elimination (loss) of advertising materials

 If you remove or lose a licensed advertising material, you must submit a report within 7 days from the date of removal (lost).
 However, the procedure is different in the following cases.

In case of change of advertiser due to sale, transfer, etc. : E Notification of Change of Indicator, Installer, Manager, Chief Maintenance Officer
