Overview of Fire Protection Regulations
In December 2014, we enacted the "Ordinance on Promotion of Non-combustible Buildings in Yokohama City Non-combustible Promotion Area (Ordinance on Non-combustible Promotion)". By this ordinance, fire prevention regulations of buildings have been strengthened in the non-combustible promotion area since July 1, 2015.
When building buildings in the non-combustible promotion area (excluding fire prevention areas), in principle, all buildings were required to be semi-fire-resistant buildings.
Because this area is a semi-fire prevention area, the Building Standards Law requires that buildings with a total area of more than 500 square meters or buildings with three or more floors excluding the basement be semi-fireproof buildings, etc. However, according to this ordinance, it is necessary to make semi-fireproof buildings, etc. for buildings with a total area of 500 square meters or less and a floor number of 2 or less.
In addition, "quasi-fire-resistant buildings" are fire-resistant buildings, semi-fire-resistant buildings, or buildings that can secure fire-resistant performance equivalent to or higher than these.
Areas subject to fire prevention regulations (non-combustible promotion areas)
The target area of this ordinance is "non-combustible promotion area (designated on February 25, 2015)".
