About oral frail

What is a frail?

A condition in which muscle strength and mental and physical vitality decline as they get older is called "frail". The stage between health and disability (needing nursing care) is called the "frail stage", and it is said that after this stage, it becomes the state of need for nursing care.

Relationship between frail and oral frail

Deterioration of teeth and mouth condition (deterioration of oral function) is called oral frail. Oral flails have been found to be more likely to cause flails. In order to live a healthy daily life, it is important to keep in mind dental health every day.

Example of flail starting with mouth
Period Symptoms of oral function Life and body conditions
Previous frail period
  • Losing interest in mouth and teeth
  • Losing teeth due to periodontal disease, etc.
  • Reduce the amount of activity
Losing teeth tends to be confined

  • The amount of food is increased.
A decrease in appetite and malnutrition.

Exercise, nutrition, frail, or need for nursing care

What is Sarcopenia?

A condition in which muscle mass and muscle strength decrease with aging, and physical function decline.

What is Locomotive Syndrome?

A condition in which the muscles of the legs and hips are weakened or there is an abnormality in the knees, etc., increasing the risk of nursing care.

The importance of chewing

Let's practice chewing 30 (Sanmaru)

By chewing more than 30 times, nutrients can be digested and absorbed well.
In addition, the secretion of saliva is promoted, and various effects can be expected.

Effect that can be expected by chewing more than 30 times or sound

  1. Prevention of obesity
  2. Gastrointestinal tract (digestion aid)
  3. Cleaning the mouth
  4. Stimulation to the brain

Are you doing 8020 exercise?

It is said that many people who have more than 20 remaining teeth have smooth daily movements such as getting up and walking, and many people are spending their daily lives well. I want to leave 20 teeth at the age of 80 and enjoy my daily diet with my own teeth.
To do so, regular dental examinations and daily brushing are important.

About the two major diseases of the mouth

Diseases in the oral cavity are mainly cavity and periodontal disease.
These diseases can prevent tooth loss and chewing. If you feel uncomfortable with your teeth, consult your dentist as soon as possible.

What is a cavity?

It is a disease in which cavities produce acid from sugars and the acid dissolve teeth due to the acid.

What is periodontal disease?

A disease in which bacteria invaded through the gap between the teeth and gums (gingivals) (periodontal pockets) cause inflammation of the gums, and even dissolve the bones (alveolar bones) that support the teeth and make them go around.

About regular medical examination

Regular checks with your GP are very important, even if there is no particular pain in your mouth.
If you have a family doctor, take a look at it regularly.
