Formation of specific landscape Historical buildings
Last updated February 15, 2024
In Yokohama City, as a system that can designate historical buildings that are particularly important in promoting the creation of attractive cityscapes, in December 2013, the ordinance on the creation of attractive cityscapes in Yokohama City (landscape Ordinance) was partially revised and the "Specific Landscape Formation Historical Buildings" system was newly established.
This system promotes the utilization of facilities that contribute to the improvement of attractiveness and vitality of cities, such as cultural and tourist facilities and restaurants that make use of the charm of the historical landscape.
For historic buildings, compliance with the Building Standards Law is often an issue when large-scale renovations involving a change in use for utilization.
By obtaining the consent of the Building Review Board based on the designation under this system, the Building Standards Law can be excluded, and it is possible to consider the well-balanced use of conservation and its utilization.
