Awarded by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Tsurumi Library

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) commends schools, libraries, and organizations (individuals) who carry out distinctive and excellent practices in order to contribute to the further promotion of reading activities.
Tsurumi Library has been selected as the "Excellent Practice Library for Children's Reading Activities" in 2018. The award ceremony was held at the "Children's Reading Activity Promotion Forum" held on Monday, April 23 Children's Reading Day, and case presentations were made as representatives of 47 award libraries nationwide.

The major factor of the award is that the company has been conducting a business called "Tsurumikko Picture Book Plaza" for less than 20 years since 1999.
This is a monthly infant health checkup at the Tsurumi Ward Office for 4-month-old children and 1-year-old and 6-month-old children. We provide services to more than 3,000 parents and children with more than 3,000 parents and children.
Tsurumi Ward Office Children and Families Support Division and Tsurumi Library work together to train and support staff. In addition, the Tsurumi Library provides detailed services according to the growth of children, such as age-specific talks and support for nursery schools and elementary schools, and I am very honored to have been evaluated.
This award was given by the Tsurumi Library, but we consider it to have been given to many stakeholders who have continued to support these projects.
We would like to thank the people concerned, and encourage this award, we will work to further promote children's reading activities.

On October 25, 2018, Mayor Mori presented a letter of appreciation from Director General to the reading volunteers "Tsurumikko Picture Book Plaza Cooperation Staff" who greatly contributed to the award of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.
