Masayuki Nakamura, the artistic director of Yokohama Noh-theater, will talk about the history and performances of Noh, and the role of performers.

Masayuki Nakamura (Mr. Masayuki Nakamura)
Born in Hokkaido in 1959. Graduated from Hosei University Graduate School (Department of Japanese History). Professor at Meiji University Graduate School. Yokohama Noh-theater Art Director. At the same time as producing a wide range of traditional performing arts, he studied performing arts and the nation and society from the standpoint of "history of performing arts society". He has authored "History of Noh as Culture" (Chikuma Shinsho), "Classical Performing Arts Tenkomori", "Japanese Classical Performing Arts Understanding with One Book with English Translation" (Tankosha), "This will not make you sleepy! There are 60 famous Noh songs (Shinko Seibundo), "Enjoy the traditional performing arts of Noh and Kyogen" (Kaiseisha), and "Mansai Nomura Why He won alone?" (Shincho Shinsho).

Information on the day
- The venue for the day is the first basement hall of Chuo-toshokan. Please enter from the front entrance of Chuo-toshokan and go down to the first basement floor by stairs or elevator.
- Please come to the venue by 1:50 p.m.
- The heating function of Chuo-toshokan is stopped due to air conditioning work. We apologize for any inconvenience, but please come in clothes that can regulate body temperature.
Special exhibition "Recommendation of Noh"
A special exhibition related to the course will be held in the exhibition space on the first floor.
We will exhibit models and tools specially borrowed from Yokohama Noh-theater! Please take a look at it.

What is "Yokohama Library School"?
"Yokohama Library School" is a comprehensive course for "learning with people and books" to deepen knowledge at the library.
In order to support everyone's learning from various perspectives, we will offer two series of "Culture Courses" to learn cutting-edge research results in academic fields such as science, technology, history, and art, and learn knowledge useful for solving social issues such as law and management.
