Information on the use of Yokohama City Library that can be read easily

Everybody can enter the library. I also help you find a book (hon) you want to read (Saga).

What can be done at the library

1. I read a book

A person who is reading a book

Any book in the library can be read.
I don't need any money.

2. I'll find a book (Saga)

If you can't see the book you want to read, ask the person at the counter. .
If you know the name of the book (hon) or the name of the person (person) who wrote the book (hon), you can use the personal computer in the library (Toshokan). You can also search (Saga).

3. Borrow a book

Where to borrow

You can borrow up to 10 books per person (one person).
Please return the borrowed book (hon) within 2 weeks.
After returning (after), you can borrow up to 10 books again.
I don't need any money.
When borrowing, please take out the book you want to borrow and the library card at the counter.
Do not pollute or break the book.

Library (Tosyokan) cards

When borrowing a book for the first time, ask them to make a library card at the counter.

What you need
  • Application form (available at the counter)
  • Information that shows your name and Address, such as an insurance card or a handbook for the disabled.

People who live in Yokohama City (Yokohama City) or those who go to schools or companies in Yokohama City (Yokohama City) (People) Can get a light blue card.

Library Card (wide area)


Kamakura City (Kamakurashi), Kawasaki City (Kawasakishi), Zushi City (Zshishi), Fujisawa City (Fujisawa Shi), Yamato City (Yamatoshi), Yokosuka City (Yokosukashi), Machida City (Machidashi) People who live in (persons) can get an orange card. In the upper left (Hidari-ue), there is a written "wide area".

4. I will return the book

Where to return


Please take out the book to be returned to the counter.
When the library is closed, please enter the "Return Post" outside.

5. Reserve a book (hon)

Library card


People who live in Yokohama City (Yokohama City) or people who go to schools and companies in Yokohama City (Yokohama City) People who have a library card can make reservations for books.
Books that other people (people) borrow and are not in the library (Tosyokan) can be booked and waited for their turn.
You can also reserve books in other libraries (Toshokan).
You can reserve up to 6 books (satsu) per person (one person).
When making a reservation, please take the reservation application form (Yoyakumo Shikomisho) and the library card to the counter.

Book consultation


If there is something that is not in minutes, such as how to search for a book (Saga) or how to use the library (Tosyokan), anything (anything) Please ask (person).

To those who have a disability and have difficulty coming to the library (Toshokan)


For those who have a certificate of disability, such as a notebook of love, a library of books and magazines that you want to borrow. There is a service that sends you to the house from Toshokan).

6. Copy


You can copy books from the library with the copy machine at the library.

The person who is copying


The black and white copy is 10 yen (en) per copy.
The color copy is 50 yen (en) per sheet.
However, if you copy in A3 size in color, it costs 80 yen (en) per sheet (may).

The time when the library is open (open)


From Tuesday (Kyobi) to Friday (Kinyobi), weekdays from 9:00 in the morning (Asa) 30 minutes (Fun) to 7:00 at night (Ji).
Chuo-toshokan and Yamauchi Library are available until 8:00 (ji) 30 minutes (fun) at night.
Saturday (Doyobi), Sunday (Nichiyobi), Monday (Getsuyobi), holiday (Shukujitsu), December (Gatsu) 28 (Nichi), morning (Asa) 9:00 (Ji) 30 minutes (Fun) to 5:00 (Ji) in the evening (Yugata).
January 4th (Nichi) is from 12:00 (ji) to 5:00 (ji) in the evening (Yugata)).

From December 29th (Nichi) to January 3rd (Mikka)
