Aoba Ward Tsuzuki Ward   celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024. In 1889 (1889), six villages were born in both areas: Nakagawa Village, Miyako Tamura, Nitta Village, Sannai Village, Tana Village, and Nakazato Village. In addition to promoting various modern systems, these villages focused on sericulture during the Meiji period and cultivation of vegetables and fruits after the Taisho period. Bamboo shoots from Nakagawa Village and strawberries and peaches from Tamura City were shipped to Yokohama and Tokyo and gained a reputation, and Sannaimura had a contract with a major beer maker for beer and wheat cultivation. In 1939 (1939), one town and six villages, including both areas, were incorporated into Yokohama City to form the Kohoku Ward, and modern villages ended their role as administrative units, but the names of villages are still handed down to stations, schools, district centers and Neighborhood Associations. In this exhibition, we will introduce the changes in living in these modern villages based on materials.
