What are non-licensed childcare facilities?

Last Updated October 7, 2024

What are non-licensed childcare facilities?

*It is a general term for childcare facilities that have not been approved by the prefecture (mayor) (it does not matter whether there is public funding).

*This includes those performed at the nursery teacher's home and those with a small number of people.

1 Facilities subject to supervision and supervision

All unlicensed childcare facilities are subject to guidance and supervision. It is necessary to comply with related laws and regulations such as the Non-licensed Childcare Facility Guidance and Supervision Standards, the Fire Services Act, and the Food Sanitation Law.

2 Facilities subject to installation notification

Depending on the number of infants who provide childcare, it may not be eligible for the installation report.
However, even if the infants to be notified (including the elementary school student for temporary childcare) are not nursed, the fact cannot be clearly confirmed in the terms and conditions or pamphlets, or even if there is a description in the terms and conditions, etc. If you may raise at least one infant per day, you need to submit a report.
In addition, even if the facility is not subject to notification, it is mandatory to undergo an on-site survey and submit an operation status report, so please contact Children and Families Support Division, the ward office where the facility is located, for opening.

※After April 2016, a report was required when raising one or more infants to be notified a day.
