Q

When can I become a dependent on employee health insurance at work?

Last Updated October 2, 2018

A

Individuals whose annual income is less than 1.3 million yen (less than 1.8 million yen for those aged 60 and over and disabled persons) and earn a living from the income of policy holder of health insurance at work are generally recognized as dependents (as annual income standards may change, so please check with your employee health insurance representative).

If you can become a dependent of employee health insurance (employee health insurance other than National Health Insurance), please apply for a dependent of employee health insurance at work.

If the application is approved and the person who has taken out National Health Insurance becomes a dependent of employee health insurance other than the National Health Insurance.

  • National Health Insurance Card
  • Workplace health insurance card (for those who have been certified as dependents)
  • private seal

Please bring it to the Insurance and Pension Division National Health Insurance Section (27th floor on the second floor).
