2019 Heat Stroke Information

Beware of heat stroke!!

  • From May 1 to September 30, 2019, the number of transport (using Fire Bureau data) was 1,244 (55 in May, 40 in June, 246 in July, 758 in August, 145).
  • The intense heat after the rainy season continued, and from July 29 to August 8, the number of transports per day was more than 30 people. After that, the heat continued, and the number of transports in August was 758, and many days continued until early September.
  • Heat stroke occurs around May before the rainy season, and tends to occur frequently when hot days continue. In an environment such as high temperatures, the body's thermoregulatory function does not work well, causing heat to build up inside the body.
  • Even though it is autumn, there are unseasonable and sultry days, so heat stroke measures are necessary. Protect yourself from the heat by using frequent hydration and air conditioners and fans so that you do not suffer from heat stroke, with sufficient nutrition and sleep.
  • 228 people in their 70s and 224 in their 80s were most common by age.
  • With 58.2% outdoors and 41.8% indoors, outdoor outbreaks are increasing.
  • Mild 58.0%, moderate 37.4%, severe 3.9%, and serious 0.6%. Of the severe or serious illness, about 74% of the elderly (65 years old or older) accounted for about 74%, of which about 67% were indoors. As you grow older, you can see a tendency to become more severe indoors.
