Negishi Residential Area Site Use Basic Plan (March 2021)
The Negishi Residential Area (hereinafter referred to as the "Area") is a 43-ha U.S. military facility that spans Naka Ward, Minami Ward and Isogo Ward, which was requisitioned in 1947. In June 2006, following the Japan-U.S. agreement on the return policy of U.S. military facilities. After that, in November 2018, it was agreed that Japan and the United States would start discussions on joint use in order to promptly restore the original state for early delivery, so the return of this area was realistic. Has become.
As a city, for more than 70 years after the war, not only landowners who have been restricted to use precious land, but also those who live in the vicinity that have been inconvenienced due to the presence of U.S. military facilities We draw on thought of and realize attractive town development to plan local activation and think that use of ruins after return is opportunity to solve various city problems of Motoichi.
Based on this situation, in March 2021, we compiled the basic policy of using the former site in the Area as the "Negishi Residential Area Site Basic Plan".
