Use of the former site of Negishi residential area

Last Updated March 31, 2021

We have formulated a basic plan for the use of the former site of Negishi residential district

The Negishi Residential Area (hereinafter referred to as the “Main District”) is a US military facility of approximately 43 ha that spans Naka Ward, Minami Ward and Isogo Ward. In June 2006, the “U.S. Army Facility Return Site Use Guidelines” was formulated. Then, in November 2018, the Japan-U.S. agreed to "Start discussions on joint use will be started between Japan and the United States in order to promptly carry out restoration work for early delivery." It has become more realistic.
For more than 70 years after the war, the city has not only landowners who have been restricted to using valuable land for more than 70 years after the war, but also living in the surrounding area that has been inconvenient due to the presence of US military facilities. We take in thought of people and realize attractive town development to plan local activation and consider the use of ruins after return as opportunity to solve various city problems of Motoichi.
Based on this situation, we compiled the basic policy for the use of the former site of the Area in March 2021 as the "Negishi Residential Area Site Use Basic Plan".
