Interaction with Africa

Since the 4th (2008) Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Yokohama City has been deepening exchanges and cooperation with Africa, with the 5th meeting in 2013 and the 7th meeting in 2019. Yokohama City has also been registered as a host town in six African countries (Tunisia, Benin, Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, and Algeria) at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and has been conducting various exchanges. Going forward, we will continue to promote cooperation with Africa.

Tokyo International Conference on African Development

The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) is an international conference on African Development, led by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the African Union Commission (AUC). Following the 4th meeting in 2008 and the 5th meeting in 2013, the 7th meeting was held in Yokohama from August 28 to 30, 2019.
Yokohama City has been making various efforts since the Tokyo International Conference on African Development.
