Lecture 1
Lecture 2
In the lecture, Mr. Okubo spoke in detail about the reasons and background of becoming a UN employee through an introduction to his career, and also talked about his work at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Regarding his career, based on the phrase "Life is chosen by goosebump," he talked about his student days, his experiences with Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and the abilities and experiences required by UN staff (language skills, field experience, master's degree), and what is possible and difficult by working at UNICEF.
During the Q & A session, there were questions about "Child poverty situation and national support in Mozambique (experienced by the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers)", "Internal composition of UNICEF", and "Motivation to work at UNICEF". Mr. Okubo gave a specific answer based on his background and experience in the field.
At a later date, students said, "I was very impressed by Mr. Okubo's strong will and talk about his original experience, who came to work at UNICEF even after pushing the opposition of my parents." I thought that there were various activities to enhance the sustainability of the country, such as making policy proposals and planning, and lobbying activities accompanying them.
