[Press Release] First Half of 2021 Fire and Emergency Overview (Preliminary Report)

①The number of fires increased. In particular, the number and ratio of electric fires were record highs.
　In residential fires, fires in "Konro" increased. All the dead are caused by house fires
・The number of fires increased by 23 (6.3%) compared to the same period of the previous year. Electric fires were on the rise, accounting for 29.5% of all fires in the first half of this year, a record high of 114 cases (up 35 from the previous year).
・Residential fires increased by seven, and fires caused by “Konro” increased by six compared to the same period of the previous year. All deaths (excluding arson and suicide) are due to house fires, an increase of five compared to the same period of the previous year.

②Increased in the number of emergency cases and transport personnel compared to the previous year
・The number of emergency cases in the first half of 2021 was 94,745, an increase of 1,165 (1.2%) compared to the same period of the previous year, and the number of transport personnel was 79,937, an increase of 1,221 (1.6%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
・The number of emergency cases in May increased the highest compared to the same period of the previous year (16,140 cases, an increase of 2,040 cases, or 14.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year). Of this, 1,278 cases of sudden illness (11.4%) and 343 cases of general injury (12.4%), traffic accidents increased 186 (2%).
