Greenhouse gas emissions (preliminary figures) from the Yokohama city area in fiscal 2019 decreased by 2.5% from the previous fiscal year to 17.72 million tons-CO2, a decrease of 2.5% from the previous fiscal year, peaking in 2013. Factors for the decrease from the previous fiscal year include a decrease in energy consumption due to energy conservation efforts and an improvement in the emission factor of electricity. Further reduction of energy consumption and the introduction of renewable energy are indispensable for the realization of Zero Carbon Yokohama, so we will continue to work with citizens and businesses to reduce greenhouse gases.
