History of Nihon Odori Avenue
Nihon Odori Avenue is a road with a total length of about 430 meters, which was planned as a fire protection zone that separates Japanese and foreign settlement.
Historic buildings such as the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Main Building and the Yokohama Media and Communications Center (former Yokohama Chamber of Commerce and Industry Promotion Hall) are concentrated along the roadside, forming a street landscape that extends the history since the opening of the port.
Also, in 2009, Zou-no-hana Park opened, and the outlook for the sea improved.
Meiji 12 (1879): Completed as a modern street designed by the foreign engineer Blanton
Showa 4 (1929): Completed reconstruction after the Great Kanto Earthquake. Ginkgo ginkgo was also planted around this time.
2002): Completion of sidewalk widening redevelopment
