Responding to events that occur in the fire alarm device

To those involved in the building who have installed fire alarm devices

 As the landline telephone service provided by East Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "NTT East") shifts to the IP network, some fire alarm devices connected to NTT East's subscribed telephone lines may not be able to receive a return call from the fire department normally.

Overview of Events

 By pressing the start button of the fire alarm device, you can make a 119 call without any problems.
 After that, a call will be sent from the Fire Bureau command stand and the dedicated telephone for the fire alarm will sound, but if you take the handset immediately after it sounds, you may not be able to make a call.

It is possible to make a 119 call, but cannot respond to the call after the call.

Conditions in which events occur

 An event may occur if all of the following three conditions are met:
1 Connect the telephone line of NTT East and the fire alarm device.
2 The telephone line connecting the fire alarm device has a contract for the following specific services.
 ・Number display
 ・Dial-in service
 ・“Special Fraud Countermeasure Service” for residential services
 ※This applies if you have subscribed to one or more services.
3 The fire alarm device falls under a specific model.
 ※Please confirm the model of the applicable fire report device from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency website (outside site) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Response method

 The event will be resolved by taking one of the following measures.

1 cancel the specified service.

 Cancell the “Special Fraud Countermeasure Service” for number display, dial-in service, and housing service.
[Contact]
 Please check the NTT East website (outside site) and contact NTT East for details on the status of contracts for specific services.
[Remarks]
 It may be necessary to change the settings of the telephone etc.

2 Change to another subscription telephone line.

[Method]
 Change the subscribed telephone line connected to the fire alarm device to another subscribed telephone line (without a contract for the "special fraud countermeasure service" for number display, dial-in service, and housing service).
[Contact]
 Please refer to supplier performing setting, inspection such as firefighting equipment.

3 Replace the fire alarm device with a compatible model.

[Method]
 Replace the fire alarm device with a compatible model.
[Contact]
 Please refer to supplier performing setting, inspection such as firefighting equipment.
[Remarks]
 If you have subscribed to the PB dial-in service, there are no compatible models listed. (As of December 2019)

Others

1 If you change the subscribed telephone line or replace the fire alarm device, you need to notify the fire department.
2 For details on events and responses that occur, please check the websites of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and NTT East.
