Q3-2 Can recycled crushed stone be used for retaining wall construction?
Last Updated November 1, 2024
When using "gravel, etc." for the permeable layer of non-strength concrete or reinforced concrete retaining wall, pure gravel, sand, crackerran or grain size adjustment crushed stone is used, and the use of recycled materials is not permitted. . This is because when the recycled material retains water, the solidification of cement components may cause a decline in the permeability function.
For crushed stones laid under the bottom of the retaining wall, pure crushed stones etc. are used in principle to convey the vertical load of the foundation of the retaining wall to the ground evenly, and to prevent the retaining wall from falling due to uneven settlement of the foundation. However, even if it is a recycled material, it may be used if it is credible for strength and durability (RM-40, etc.).
