What is evacuation shelter evacuation shelter (designated evacuation center)?
Last Updated September 11, 2018
In Yokohama City, municipal elementary and junior high schools are designated as designated evacuation centers, and as a means of receiving and transmitting information such as damage information, the evacuation shelter has set up disaster prevention storage storage and stockpiling disaster prevention equipment and food.
Make sure you have regular meetings with your family and community to confirm the safe route to evacuation shelter.
※In addition to the "designated evacuation center" where you live an evacuation life, check the "designated emergency evacuation sites" to escape the danger of an imminent disaster.

Seismic retrofitting of school facilities
Seismic reinforcement was promoted for gymnasiums and school buildings constructed before the new seismic standards (before 1980).
Development of emergency stockpiling
We have a disaster prevention stockpiling to store disaster prevention equipment and food. There are two types of disaster prevention storage: remodeling empty classrooms in schools and new prefabricated warehouses in school grounds.
Securing drinking water
In order to secure drinking water, we promoted the development of underground water tanks for disasters and emergency hydrants, and the use of receiving tanks. In addition, we are promoting the use of fire hydrants and the development of earthquake-resistant hydrants.
