What is the evacuation shelter evacuation shelter (designated shelter)
Last Updated September 11, 2018
In Yokohama City, local municipal elementary and junior high schools are designated as designated evacuation centers, and as evacuation shelter has set up disaster prevention stockpiles, stockpiling disaster prevention equipment, food, etc.
Make sure you have a place for discussions with your family and community to check the safe route to evacuation shelter.
※In addition to the "designated evacuation shelters" for evacuation, check the "designated emergency evacuation sites" to escape from the danger of an imminent disaster.

Earthquake resistance of school facilities
We promoted seismic reinforcement for gymnasiums and school buildings constructed before the new seismic standards (before 1980).
Development of emergency stockpiling
We have a disaster prevention stockpiling to store disaster prevention equipment and food. There are two types of disaster prevention storages that remodel empty classrooms in schools and those that newly establish prefabricated warehouses in school grounds.
Securing drinking water
In order to secure drinking water, we promoted the maintenance of underground water tanks for disasters and emergency hydrants, and the use of water receiving tanks. In addition, we are promoting the use of fire hydrants and installing earthquake-resistant hydrants.
