Q

What is the difference between a septic tank and a water reclamation center?

Last Updated August 31, 2018

A

A septic tank is installed to treat sewage individually in individual households. There are two separate septic tanks that treat only human waste and combined treatment septic tanks that collectively treat human waste and miscellaneous wastewater such as kitchens and baths. The sewer does not perform individual sewage treatment, but collects sewage by sewer pipe and flows downstream, and collectively treats it at the water recycling center at the end of the stream.

The use of sewers and merged septic tanks is different even in one municipality, even in one municipality, because the situation is different in urban areas where houses are densely packed and suburban areas where houses are scattered. We establish area to do and area to be maintained in merger septic tank.

In addition, in Yokohama City, since the population density is high, including in the urbanization adjustment area, almost the entire city area is maintained by sewerage except for some coastal areas.
