"Children's Adventure College 2022 Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class" was held.
Last update date October 13, 2023
The Institute of Environmental Science held the “Child Adventure 2022 Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class” for elementary school students in the city. We had various experiences about the environment through experiments and observations in programs on the theme of microplastics, heat search, and cicada found in Yokohama.
- Date of implementation: August 18, 2022
- Location: Yokohama Institute of Environmental Science (5th floor, Shibusawa ABC Building, 1 Ebisu-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama)
- Number of participants: 20 elementary school students (18 guardians, etc.)
Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class
The contents of the experimental notebook and the state of the day will be introduced for each program.
Water Environment Problems - Let's examine microplastics~
I simulated a microplastic survey in sand on the beach. In addition, it was actually analyzed using the equipment.

Let's know the summer of Yokohama-Search using cameras and cicada shells-
Using the thermo camera, I checked the surface temperature and learned about vaporization heat. I learned the ecology of the cicada seen in Yokohama. In addition, we actually observed the bottom shell.

Voices of participants
- I was surprised that there were a lot of plastics in the sand on the beach. This time, I wanted to go to various sandy beaches and find out how much microplastics are in.
- I would like to make use of the experiments I did with thermo camera to find out what to do around me and to see if there is nothing other than watering.
- By observing the cicada shells, I did not know that there was such a difference between male and females. It was really fun this time.
Thank you very much for all of you who responded to the questionnaire. I would like to refer to it to make the future experiment classroom more enjoyable.
