The Institute for Environmental Science held the Children's Adventure 2019 Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class for elementary and junior high school students in the city. . Through experiments and observations through programs on themes such as alien organisms, air and water pollution, and microplastics, they had various experiences related to the environment.

  • Date of implementation: August 15, 2019

  • Number of participants: 24 elementary and junior high school students (36 parents, etc.)

Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class

We will introduce the contents of the experimental note (with answer) and the state of the day for each program.

Water quality accident occurred! What is the cause?

We simulated a survey of substances that caused river turbidity accidents.

Are you aware? SOS from the sea!

We observed small plastic waste drifting on the coast and thought about ways to reduce plastic in our daily lives.

Let's explore the secrets of the atmosphere through a cool experiment!

I learned how the air changes and how to feel cool by observing snow crystals and experimenting with vaporizing liquids.

Let's observe various ants!

I used a microscope to find out the types of ants that are close to me. I also saw a sample of fire ants.

Voice of Participants

  • The electron microscope was amazing to be able to take pictures.
  • It was fun to put the BTB solution for the pH test and COD back test in which water quality accidents occurred, and to inhale and mix water.
  • Arinko observation surprised me that there are 300 kinds of ants in Japan. It was an insect close to me, so I wanted to see it in more detail.

Thank you very much to everyone who responded to the questionnaire. I would like to refer to it so that future experimental classes can be made more enjoyable.
