  • Date of implementation: August 15, 2019
  • Location: Yokohama Institute of Environmental Science (5th floor, Shibusawa ABC Building, 1 Ebisu-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama)
  • Number of participants: 24 elementary and junior high school students (36 parents, etc.)

Summer Vacation Children's Environmental Science Class

We will introduce the contents of the experiment notebook (with answer) and the state of the day for each program.

Water quality accident occurred! What is the cause?

I simulated a survey of the substance that caused a river turbidity accident.

Are you aware of it? SOS from the sea!

We observed small plastic garbage drifting on the coast and thought about ways to reduce plastic in our daily lives.

Let's look for the secrets of the atmosphere through cool experiments!

I learned how to change air and how to feel cool through observation of snow crystals and experiments in which liquid vaporize.

Let's observe various ants!

Using a microscope, I checked the types of ants in the immediate vicinity. I also saw a fire ant specimen.

Voices of participants

  • The electron microscope was amazing to take pictures.
  • It was fun to put the BTB solution for the pH test and COD backtest when a water quality accident occurred, and to inhale water and shake it.
  • I was surprised that there are 300 types of ants in Japan by the Arinco observation. It was an insect nearby, so I wanted to see it in more detail.

Thank you very much for all of you who responded to the questionnaire. I would like to refer to it to make the future experiment classroom more enjoyable.
