Measures for sprayed materials containing asbestos (asbestos) in Yokohama City Public Buildings
Last Updated January 11, 2024
Regarding measures for asbestos-containing spraying materials in public buildings, a fact-finding survey was conducted in FY2005, and facilities where asbestos-containing spraying materials was found to be basically removed, containment, and enclosure by 2009 Necessary measures such as enclosure have been completed. (Including facilities for which use other than the three main types were found in the 2007 Additional Survey (Note 1))
For facilities that were identified as “facility in enclosed state” (Note 2) and “facilities that do not require immediate measures” (Note 3) in the fact-finding survey, the amount of floating amount is measured every year in principle. We will carry out appropriate maintenance and take measures at the time of facility renovation.
In addition, after the fact-finding survey in 2005, similar measures have been implemented for facilities where asbestos has been found due to renovation work.
The latest floating measurement results at these facilities can be found at the Name of the facility link.

3 added types…Tremolite, Aquachino Light, Ann Sophie Light - Note 2: A "facility in an enclosed state" means that the place of use is sealed behind the ceiling and the spraying material is relatively less harmful (approximately 5% or less, 2% amosite). This facility will carry out appropriate maintenance, such as measuring the amount of floating amount every year in principle in the future, and measures will be taken at the time of facility renovation.
- Note 3: "Facilities that do not require immediate measures" are mechanical rooms that do not allow citizens to enter, where the asbestos content contained in the spraying material is as low as 1% or less, and chrysotiles with relatively low toxicity.
