Edinburgh Declaration

Yokohama City endorsed and signed the purpose of the Edinburgh Declaration, which summarizes the opinions of local governments around the world regarding biodiversity. (External Site)

It was formulated with the aim of reflecting the voices of local governments in the "Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework" to be adopted at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15, May 2021, Kunming, China).
The signing of this agreement reaffirms the importance of the role of the government in the conservation and the restoration of the natural environment, and to work together with the international community.

Montreal Pledge

Yokohama City has endorsed and signed the Montreal Pledge, a pledge relating to the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15). (External Site)

At the call of Mayor Valery Plante of Montreal, the host city of COP15, the host city of COP15, the host city of COP15conservation. When it was announced during the COP15 period, 47 cities around the world signed. Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD and COP)

What is the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (external site)
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the highest decision-making body of the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP) is held approximately once every two years. The 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) (external site) was held in Montreal, Canada from December 7 to 19, 2022, the Kunming Montreal Biodiversity Framework, was adopted as a successor to the Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and Aichi Targets adopted in 2010.

Biodiversity Local Government Network

Yokohama City participates in the "Biodiversity Local Government Network" (outside site), which is comprised of local governments across the country, and is promoting initiatives in cooperation with local governments nationwide.
