This section introduces how to search for music score materials such as songs and piano scores held in Yokohama City Library.
※The score corner on the 5th floor of Chuo-toshokan has a large number of scores.

1 Search for music scores from song names, composers, artists, etc.
(1) Find a score in online catalog
If you know the name of the song you are looking for, the composer, the artist, etc.

By entering the following items and searching, you can check the material that contains the score.
"Keyword" → Song name ※・Keywords such as composers, performers, work numbers, etc. (e.g. Gen Hoshino) and scores
※Some materials do not register individual song names. In such a case, search by song name will not hit. If you cannot find a score in online catalog, please contact "(2) Search for scores on the Internet" or contact the counter.

We introduce the following two websites that allow you to search for music scores on the Internet.
You can identify the title of the material containing the score from the song title, composer, performer, etc., and check the libraryCity Library online catalog.

2 Find music scores for musical instruments
If you know the name of the song you are looking for and are looking for music scores for musical instruments (piano, band scores, etc.)
On the advanced search screen of Yokohama City Library online catalog (external site) (https://opac.lib.city.yokohama.lg.jp/winj/opac/top.do?lang=ja), you can search for materials that contain music scores.
"Keyword" → Keywords (e.g. Gen Hoshino) such as song title, composer, performer, work number, etc.

Find music scores from 4 genres
(1) Kayo song
A. Full song score
This is the score of a popular song from the whole music publishing company. There are only melody scores, but there are preludes, interplays, seconds, obrigat (versus melody), and code. Although we record faithfully from records and CDs, there are some songs that have shifted to # and less horns in consideration of ease of singing.

The latest songs of enka and pop songs are included. In addition to singing advice on all songs, there are also "Selection of solo guitar masterpieces" where you can play hit songs with tab scores, "Harmonica Enka" where you can enjoy enka with harmonica's solo performance, and "Karaoke Club" where you can sing new songs with easy-to-understand and polite guidance. Corners are also enriched. There is also a "B-side corner" that collects coupling songs. A list of songs recorded will be posted twice a year.

It is a historical series that has been published once a year since 1950. It contains a hit song for that year. Volumes 1 to 43 have a total line.

Kayo songs from Meiji 17 to Heisei 23 are recorded in chronological order. As a separate volume, there is a total line from 1 to 8 volumes. For famous songs, first search in this complete collection.

A complete collection of lyric songs
In addition to the melody and lyrics, it is characterized by a piano accompaniment score. In addition, there is a commentary at the bottom of the score, so you can know the background of the song etc.

It contains melody, lyrics, and piano accompaniment scores of about 300 songs and nursery rhymes from the Meiji to Showa eras. There is a singing index and commentary on each song.

More than 10,000 songs that were sung in the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras are included in each prefecture. Lyrics and melody scores are included, and there are explanations of children's songs, play methods, related folklore and history. There is also a total of three volumes, "Japanese Children's Songs" (outside site) (Yanagihara Shoten), which summarizes 654 representative songs for each prefecture.

A reprint of a music score collection containing about 1500 nursery rhymes, songs, and military songs from the Meiji era to the early Showa era (original version was published in 1966-7). The solo works of vocal music are recorded by composer and genre. It has piano accompaniment and lyrics, and at the end of the book, there is a commentary on each work. In the case of foreign songs, there is a reading kana in the original lyrics and a direct translation at the end of the book.

It contains about 230 melody scores. The lyrics describe both the original and Japanese.
