Survey on the use of asbestos in school facilities (First Report) (FY2005)

The Board of Education conducts surveys on asbestos-containing spraying materials at school facilities to ensure safety measures for elementary school student students. At the stage of the investigation, as of August 29, it was found that spraying materials containing asbestos were used at Midori Elementary School and Namiki Daiichi Elementary School, so we will respond as follows.

1 Midori Elementary School

Midori Elementary School
(1)Asbestos used
Amosite (tea asbestos) containing 50% staircase dance hall upper window (about 2.8m high from floor) 2 places (about 2m2)
(2)Scatter volume survey
We will promptly investigate the amount of scattering in the air.
(3)Measures
After investigating the amount of scattering, we will carry out enclosure work this week to ensure safety.
(4)Temporary closure
From Tuesday, August 30, 2005 to Friday, September 2, 2005

2 Namiki Daiichi Elementary School

Namiki Daiichi Elementary School
(1)Asbestos used
Crysotile (Shiraishi cotton) 1 to 5% Classroom ceiling, etc.
(2)Scatter volume survey
A situation where no scattering is observed at less than 0.11 bottles/l. (equivalent to the surrounding atmosphere)
(3)Measures
Since the safety was confirmed without scattering, measures will be taken during winter vacation etc.
