We will promote management reform of municipal hospitals and enhance community medicine as a whole.

The three municipal hospitals, Municipal Hospitals, Port Hospitals, and Yokohama Stroke & Brain Center, have been engaged in policy-based medical care, such as emergency medical care, and so on. On the other hand, private medical institutions, such as "regional core hospitals", which the city has attracted and maintained private hospitals, are also playing a major role in policy medical care. .

The role of municipal hospitals is not much different from those of regional core hospitals, but the taxes used for municipal hospitals are considerably higher than that of regional core hospitals [Fig. 1]. In order to provide fair and high-quality medical care to all citizens, it is an issue that must be solved. .

In city, we work on management reform of municipal hospital and push forward review about role and management that municipal hospital plays in future.

Municipal hospitals and Yokohama Stroke & Brain Center will shift to "all application of the Local Public Enterprise Law." By setting up a hospital business manager who has the authority to appoint and dismiss staff, create budget drafts, contracts, etc., the authority and responsibilities related to management will be clarified, and management that makes use of corporate characteristics will be possible.

Port hospitals will introduce a “public privately run” system with redevelopment as an opportunity. In the "public private management" system, a private medical institution operates a municipal hospital. We perform efficient management utilizing private knowledge and experience and, as a hospital set up by the city, will enhance the medical functions required by citizens more than ever.

Through the management reform of municipal hospitals, the taxes that have been invested in municipal hospitals will be allocated to new medical measures such as pediatric emergency services, and the entire community medicine will be enhanced.
