About protection facilities

Protective facilities are social welfare facilities based on the Public Assistance Act, and there are three types of rescue facilities, rehabilitation facilities, and medical protection facilities in the city. In particular, this page introduces rescue facilities and rehabilitation facilities, which are entrance facilities.

What are protective facilities (rescue facilities and rehabilitation facilities)?

□ Relief facilities
Those who have difficulty living in the community due to significant physical or mental disabilities and who are in need of living enter and receive living assistance.

□ Rehabilitation facilities
Those who have difficulty living in the community due to physical or mental disabilities and who are in need of living enter and receive support for independence.

Protective facilities in Yokohama City

There are three rescue facilities and three rehabilitation facilities in the city.
The public facilities Urafuneen, Yokohama City and the Chuo Hirookan, Yokohama City, are operated by designated managers.

Designated manager of protection facilities

With the introduction of the designated manager system at public facilities, the operation by designated managers has also started at protection facilities in Yokohama City.

(1) Selection procedure for designated manager
In Yokohama-shi, designated manager is chosen by open call for participants in principle and is appointed as designated manager after resolution of assembly.
For Urafuneen, Yokohama City and Chuo Hirookan, candidates selected by the Selection Committee were designated as fourth designated managers at the 4th City Counsil Regular Meeting in 2020.

(2) Yokohama-shi protection facility designation manager selection committee
The minutes of the selection committee and materials of the committee can be viewed at the Health and Social Welfare Bureau Life Support Division and the Citizen Information Center (only the minutes).

From designated manager, business report is submitted after the end of the year.
The submitted business report can be viewed at the Health and Social Welfare Bureau Life Support Division.
