Elimination of discrimination against persons with disabilities

Response to the Act on the Promotion of Elimination of Discrimination Due to Disability (Disability Discrimination Elimination Act)

As part of the development of domestic laws to conclude the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a society where all citizens can live together while respecting personality and individuality without being separated by the presence or absence of disabilities. In June 2013, the "Law Concerning the Elimination of Discrimination Due to Disability" (the so-called "Disability Discrimination Elimination Law") was enacted. Subsequently, the law was revised and promulgated in June 2021, and will come into effect on April 1, 2024. After the enforcement of the revised law, it is mandatory for businesses to provide reasonable accommodation.

Yokohama City is promoting the following initiatives as a response to the Disability Discrimination Elimination Law.
