Q

How should I dispose of garbage from stores and offices?

Last update date April 3, 2023

Waste and Recycling
A

Yokohama City does not collect waste (business garbage) generated by business activities (regardless of profit or non-profit) in principle.
Please dispose of it yourself or entrust a licensed contractor (licensed contractor) for general waste collection and transportation, and dispose of industrial waste to a contractor (licensed contractor) who has been licensed to collect, transport, and dispose of industrial waste.
Discharging business waste to a collection site in household garbage may result in punishment.

Please refer to "How to separate business garbage and resources" on the Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau homepage and thoroughly separate it. (Please note that this differs from household garbage's classification rules.)

In the case of self-treatment, the city's incineration plant accepts recycle paper (newspapers, magazines, cardboard, OA paper packs, mixed paper) and industrial waste (plastics, metals, etc.) that can be recycled. No.
Please recycle recycle paper that can be recycled by requesting a recycle paper contractor.
For other recyclable items (kitchen garbage, plastics, metals, etc.), please ask a licensed contractor (some permission may not be required).

When discharging garbage, drain the water well and try to prevent scattering by small animals such as crows by installing poly buckets and nets on the premises, and discharge them in a way that does not impair the aesthetics of the city.
